Knitting the Blues

Time is flying really fast. I can’t believe it’s the middle of May already and I haven’t even written a word about my latest spring publications. Well, this spring is all about simple stitches and blues :-) A lot of Garter and Stockinette has been created on my needles recently. I love challenging designs with lots of things going on at the same time, but the truth is that very often less is more. Thus I’ve decided to explore some simple ideas – with simple stitches, simple cables, simple lace. Somehow most of them turned out to be blue :-)

The first design, which has actually already been published, is Jessa. It’s a very simple pullover with a twist – a faux buttonband on the back that flows into nicely curved bottom hem. I made mine in Madelinetosh TOSH Sock in colorway Bloomsbury. It’s just such a beautiful shade of light blue – so delicate and flattering (especially for us blue-eyed gals!). The sweater is very light, wearable and sexy (ask any man if he likes the bottom hem. I bet he will :-)

The sea-blue Garter shawlette you can see in the first pic is a little thing I designed for a big summer gig Unwind Brighton organized by Dani Sunshine. The festival is going to be a real treat for all knitters, with lots of fantastic classes and yarn goodies. If you’d like to, you can make my “On the Pier” shawlette during Unwind Brighton KAL, which will take place in June in the festival group on Ravelry. You do not have to be going to the festival to join in the KAL! In the meantime here’s a little sneak peek…

There are two more designs coming very soon… The dazzling blue sea of Garter fun and a rusty summer cardigan. Both of them are really special and deserve a separate post, so stay tuned!

Have a fab week!
